| You can hear the short bursts of steam at the beginning of the overture on the Original Cast Recording. Those were short blasts from the pit. The audience really took note. One wanted more. As the (terrific) overture roused to it's finish, the last bit of melody was "SHE'S A NUT"......round and rounds of 16th notes.......while the steam blasted continuously, floating way above the proscenium arch for what seemed like 32 bars of pulsing, trainlike, exciting melody to a ROUSING crescendo. Truly Magical. |
