Mac performed the show in 2 chunks in Philadelphia. I attended the noon to midnight part which covered 12 decades from 1776-1896. It was an extravaganza with many helpers/performers/radical fairies. Many costume changes were done on stage behind a screen with Mac still narrating while being changed. Sometimes other performers sang while a change was being made or Mac was using the bathroom. There were sandwiches and snacks for sale in the lobby and we certainly made use of them!
There was a huge amount of audience participation that kept us engaged throughout. In one decade the audience was blindfolded and led to different seats so many times that when we took off our blindfolds, we were in another part of the theater next to different folks. This was part of building a community spirit which was an essential part of this fantastic evening. |
