Come on now. The director claimed he didn't need to audition him to see if he could sing because of videos from his (fairly recent) high school musicals... but it's not as if he was some undiscovered person who the director randomly watched videos of high school musical performances and cast him as the lead in his new major motion picture Willy Wonka musical.
