Did anyone here see Carol Channing in THE BED BEFORE YESTERDAY?

I myself saw it in London in the summer of 1976, with Joan Plowright.
Can't recall the name of her male costar.
Hilarious!
Curious as to how the US pre-Broadway tour compared.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if JLB wrote a book about his life in the theater? This is so skillfully written and so entertaining. More! I want more!

Mr. Beatty's recollections are a little off. "Ashes" ran at the Public Theater in the Spring of 1977. Mr. Beatty states that "The Bedroom Before Yesterday" was Ms Channing's first play since "Hello Dolly!" and she missed it. Miss it, she might but since she appeared in "Hello Dolly" she appeared on Broadway in "Four on a Garden"in 1971 and in "Lorelei" in 1974. Of course she did tour in "Hello Dolly!" quite a bit and may have come to "The Bedroom Before Yesterday" from a tour but she had theatrical (and motion picture) adventures since her early 60's Dolly triumph. She did not present "Hello, Dolly" again on Broadway until the Spring of 1978.

She was quite wonderful. Played very different characters and was strong dramatically and comically.
