Broadway was always going to be a big challenge. I doubt anyone expected it to be an instant smash like ''Back to the Future: The Musical.''
''Here Lies Love'' is an original show. It's not based on a hit movie. It doesn't have big-name stars. Or a jukebox score of Billboard hits.
On top of it all, it's a disco-pop musical about the rise and fall of Imelda Marcos. And historically, it's got the first all-Filipino Broadway cast.
Plus, it's an immersive musical that literally has many of its theatergoers on their feet. I hope this brilliant show finds the audience it deserves. |
