I come in 3-5 times a year. Usually, I want to know where I'm sitting and I buy ahead (and I have some company memberships). But this last trip, I saw two Broadway shows and one Off-B on TDF. Broadway was $59 + fees and Off-Broadway (at the Park Ave Armory) was $51. About half the price of the TKTS seat I bought. Seats were very good: mezz side, just off the aisle two or four rows up, and the Armory was a good close-to-middle seat in the center about halfway up. I saw two other Broadway shows on TDF in November and the seats were good.
I have had Broadway TDF tickets in the past that were very high up in the mezzanine (not great - for me - for plays in particular). Usually, if it's Broadway, I'll try if: a) it's very early previews, and/or b) I either don't think I'll love it or I already have another ticket for later. Also, I'm usually buying a single and that usually works out better (for instance, this time I sat between two couples or between an aisle single and a couple). Maybe others have better results, but I probably wouldn't try if I wanted to sit with someone else.
I don't remember what the current subscription price is, but at least this year, I've gotten my money out of it. And I'm fine with contributing to the organization. |
