I was struck by how entitled the "fans" were, even lying that they were friends with the producer, and then being righteous and indignant afterwards on social media. Salonga was a thousand times nicer than I would have been, although it also kind of seemed like she had seen this movie before, so to speak.
Not that it matters, but my impression is that Salonga is signing and greeting fans at the stage door, so it wasn't even like these pushy people were frustrated because they really wanted to meet her and couldn't do so.
I was at some stage door many years ago where someone snuck in with other people, I think to see Jonathan Groff. It was a clueless star-struck teenager, rather than these entitled, awful people here. She came out fairly quickly, and it seemed like Groff (or whoever it was) had been very nice about the whole thing. But it's got to be challenging to be a celebrity in this social media age. |
