GOTTA BELIEVE THEATER GROUP is pleased to announce the world premiere production of J. Giachetti's RELAPSE: A NEW MUSICAL, with music by the award-winning Louis Josephson, directed by Tony-award nominee Joey Mckneely. RELAPSE: A NEW MUSICAL will play a three-week limited engagement at Off-Broadway's Theatre Row - Theatre 5 (410 West 42nd Street, NY NY 10036). Performances begin Saturday, September 2 and continue through Saturday, September 23. Opening Night is Wednesday, September 6 (7 p.m.). Consumed by the personification of the voices in their heads, RELAPSE: A NEW MUSICAL, follows the journeys of Adam, Bryan, Melinda, and Kendra as they navigate the adversities of mental health on their path to recovery. Guided by Dr. Carlis and Nurse Margot, this group of patients, welcome Adam and bid farewell to long-time patient Bryan. The musical delves into the emotional, psychological, and social conflicts that arise in such a group therapy-type setting and the character's transformations as they seek help, confront their demons and embark on a path to recovery. The future is calling them, but in order to move forward they have first to let go of the past.

** This play touches upon themes of addiction, isolation, and mental health. The play is a fictionalized account of true events. **

I have worked tirelessly to honor their stories in crafting this raw, entertaining, and charismatic world."



Louis Josephson, Composer follows with "RELAPSE: A NEW MUSICAL has been a labor of love and a companion on my own mental health journey. I am excited for audiences to experience the laughter and tears that these energetic and heartfelt songs evoke."


RELAPSE: A NEW MUSICAL plays the following regular schedule through Saturday, September 23:

Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Fridays at 8 p.m.
Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sundays at 3 p.m.

Additions: Tuesday, September 5 at 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m.

BIOGRAPHIES

J. GIACHETTI (Book Writer and Lyricist) is a professional non-binary actor, Dramatist Guild Playwright and Lyricist, Artistic Director, arts educator, and avid poet. Some of their previous creative/performance credits have been The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Wayne Hopkins in Puffs Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Harry in Company, Playwright of critically acclaimed Faith in Shackles , and director of She Kills Monsters (2022), Dog Sees God (2021), Laramie Project (2019), How I Learned to Drive (2019), and Rabbit Hole (2018). They are also the Community Engagement Manager, as well as a performing and teaching artist, with Staten Island educational theater company, Illuminart Productions.

LOUIS JOSEPHSON (Composer) is an award-winning composer who is currently studying composition at The Juilliard School. As early as age three, Louis was influenced by different styles of music, ranging from classic rock in the car with his parents to classical music at the concert hall with his grandmother. Since then, his music has been performed and recorded by esteemed ensembles including The United States Air Force Band, The Juilliard Orchestra, Sirius Quartet, and The All-National Honors Concert Band. His music has been featured in various festivals including Tribeca New Music, Juilliard ChoreoComp, Jersey Fringe, National Association of Music Educators, MakeMusic, and Association of Concert Bands. He is published by Wingert-Jones Publications, Inc.; A Division of J.W. Pepper & Son, Inc. In addition to being a composer, Louis is a music director, keyboardist, percussionist, singer, and producer.

JOEY MCKNEELY (Director) is a two-time Tony Nominated Broadway Choreographer and the international Director and Choreographer of West Side Story. Broadway Credits are Smokey Joe's Café, The Life, Twelfth Night, The Wild Party, The Boy From OZ, and the West Side Story revival. He directed/choreographed the US National Tours of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Annie Get Your Gun, Crazy For You, and Smokey Joe's Café. Internationally, he directed/choreographed the world premieres of Love U Theresa, Ah, Kuling! And Jiu Gan Tang Mai Wu in China; The Beautiful Game, Thoroughly Modern Millie, West Side Story in Japan; Evita and Dusty in London.
