The site has a lot of functionality, with quick access to reviews, the leaderboard (if you're into that), and your own archive. I make sure I review every show I see so that I can quickly refresh my memory about a show I've seen.
I think the primary benefit is if you're considering seeing a show in previews, you can see people's reactions. A downside to Show Score is that “friends and family” will join the site just to post a glowing review and gin the overall score up. But those are easy to spot.
Some members are very well informed; others less so. But you can "follow" the people you like.
The free tickets are great, but unless you're a paying member, the good offerings get snapped up quickly. I do pay for early access.
Show Score is now owned by TodayTix, so there are more ticket-buying prompts, but it's not too annoying.
I do think Show Score offered better free tickets when it was independent, but the pandemic was hard on theater, as we all know. I'm grateful it survived, in any form! |
