Well, that has certainly put me off flying Virgin Atlantic again. The dozing gays and the little girl were tolerable but the employees all appear to be sullen, supercilious fashionistas who are vaguely threatening. I guess they are really trying to glam up their demographic? But has Virgin ever seemed like an airline that wasn't completely embracing of alternative lifestyles? Virgin has always relied on a fairly too-cool-for-school vibe- I used to love their safety announcements which were done by tyro Ewan McGregor and retro Leslie Phillips- but they've taken it to the next level with this.
At first I thought it was Marianne Faithfull singing but then I changed my guess that it was just being sung in the Faitfull style. Did she cover "I Am What I Am" back in the 80's? |
