I'd be interested to see pared down versions of Lloyd Webber's shows. We get so wowed and distracted by the over-the-top productions that we may not get am objective view of him as a dramatist.

I've seen a smaller EVITA and still saw magic. A CATS with fewer theatrical tricks, however, falls flat. SUNSET works as long as the leading lady is phenomenal. Looking forward to what happens to PHANTOM without the Prince production.
