I had a similar experience. An early childhood favorite of mine was TV's "The Flying Nun." My mom helped me write a fan letter to Sally Field, who starred as the eponymous nun. (My other childhood crush was Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music." I'm neither straight nor Catholic, so what's with the nuns? But I digress.)
Imagine my surprise when I received an autographed publicity postcard of Field in a bright orange bikini on a Malibu beach! Apparently a relic of her "Gidget" days, it opened my eyes to the scope of thespian art. |
