Cheyenne Jackson, who starred on Broadway as the Elvis-inspired Chad in ''All Shook Up,'' returned to Feinstein's at the Nikko last night, and San Francisco's cabaret crowd couldn't help fallin' in love with him again. It was his first show there in six years. As a singer, Jackson's always had a rich, big voice, but he's now matured into such a masterful storyteller full of heart and humor too. With ''A Wink and a Smile,'' this 48-year-old leading man shared his showbiz journey: joking about his five hair transplants; recalling his recent adventures on ''The Masked Singer,'' and doing riotous impressions of Leslie Jordan, his late comic co-star from ''Call Me Kat.'' Vocally, he ran the gamut from ''Besame Mucho'' to Lady Gaga's ''The Edge of Glory.''

But he sounded especially spectacular revisiting Elvis' ''A Little Less Conversation,'' and the room went wild as he swiveled his hips.

Emotionally, he shone with a little more conversation, remembering growing up gay and bullied. He then sang a beautiful ballad he wrote about dealing with that truth with his dad.

If you see lotsa shows, you'll be lucky enough to catch someone special at the beginning of his career and see him soar to stardom. Next September, it'll be 20 years since I first interviewed a then-unknown Jackson, 29, for Playbill.com when he was one of the ''Altar Boyz'' at the N.Y. Musical Theatre Festival. I also was proud that he ''came out'' in my column (at a time when that was less common). A few months later, Jackson got his big Broadway break in ''All Shook Up,'' which would lead to his varied TV, film, stage and concert career.

Cheyenne has one more show tonight in San Francisco, and it's sold out, like his recent 5-night stint at 54 Below in NYC. This board's own mlop offered her own delightful account and even took photos for Theater Pizzazz (below). It's hard to imagine that Jackson won't be bringing back his incredible cabaret act to 54 Below, so when he does, go!
