| Has anyone weighed in on Stephen M. Silverman's SONDHEIM: HIS LIFE, HIS SHOWS, HIS LEGACY yet? I've made my way through D.T. Max's faulty but intriguing FINALE: LATE CONVERSATIONS WITH STEPHEN SONDHEIM and Paul Salsini's self-serving SONDHEIM & ME: REVEALING A MUSICAL GENIUS and James Lapine's fascinating PUTTING IT TOGETHER: HOW STEPHEN SONDHEIM AND I CREATED "SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE" and I was feeling leery about shelling out $31.50 for Silverman's book, but hey... it's worth it. Beautifully produced and awesomely substantial, full of great photos and astute commentary and maybe 2% of info us Sondheads don't already know. Silverman passed away earlier this year. Too bad he's not with us to experience HERE WE ARE. I wish I could read his account of it. |
