I saw the final matinee today. Very entertaining show. At the talkback Walter Marks said he wrote five new songs for this revisal. They were good, solid, jazz-infused songs. But I must admit to missing the silly lyrics in “For Once in Your Life”: “Dressed in your fabric by Kloppman/They’ll lean upon you.” I remember those old ads for Kloppman but understood that the dated reference had to be dropped.
Fine performances by all, especially Max von Essen (does he ever age? Seems not) and young Benjamin Pajak. |
