Does anyone know the weekly nut on Sweeney? With the large cast, the (glorious) full orchestra and a marquee star in the title role, it must be fairly high. We've all seen the immediate drop in box office when Groban is out of the show. It's hard to think of another actor equipped to handle this role (especially, vocally) who would also have the same or greater pull at the box office than Groban. I don't think a respected musical theatre actor with a small following will be enough. Is there anyone y'all can think of that would fit the bill?
Also, after this, if he ever wants to come back to Broadway for a thrid time, I imagine Groban can have his pick of whatever role he wants. |
