A decade ago, I very much enjoyed Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock with Ciaran O’Reilly at Irish Rep. I had hopes that the current Druid production of The Plough and the Stars at NYU Skirball Center would be equally rewarding.
It wasn't.
Much like the Australian production of Summer of the Seventeenth Doll many decades ago, it was completely unintelligible to people who spoke only standard US English. |
