CRITICAL RAVES Variety praised the "winning score by titans John Kander & Fred Ebb and Lin-Manuel Miranda." According to The Wrap, "Kander and Ebb's classic songs pack a wallop. But John Kander has found a real soulmate in Lin-Manuel Miranda whose poetry brings out the composer's more introspective, lyrical side." The Wall Street Journal raved that "Anna Uzele has a big, brassy, exhilarating voice" with Deadline adding, "Colton Ryan's singing is a sly blend of classic Broadway and Sinatra swagger, and presciently hints at Chet Baker's mannered cool." The album's Tony Award-winning co-producers Sonia Friedman, Tom Kirdahy, and Craig Balsam comment "Our NEW YORK, NEW YORK cast album is both a tribute to John Kander's vast legacy and New York City itself. This recording fulfills Kander's vision of recreating the sound of the classic Broadway albums of the ‘50s through the ‘70s, with their warm and rich audio experience. Hearing the recording will be like you're sitting right in the theater, soaking up the stunning orchestra and the voices of our phenomenal cast."
