But also that's not what studio recordings are. It's rare if ever that a studio album is made with the original cast, and when it has been it's because that OBC never got an album, and usually only some of the original cast can do it. Right?
Even if a studio recording was done with the original Dreamgirls cast (I haven't checked if all the main players are still with us, but most are at least, no?), it would still be quite different than it was, beyond their performance as actors in the roles (even if they rehearsed it for a week with a good director) the director isn't Bennett, their approaches to the roles would be possibly quite different even without knowing it, and their vocals would of course not be the same... this was 41 years ago. |
