In addition to those mentioned below, you might want to look into the Hotel Cavendish on Jermyn Street. It's a 5 minute walk to Picadilly Circus and very convenient to all West End theatres and yet it's on a very quiet street. Closest Tube stop is Green Park on the Piccadilly Line. The park is also five minutes away. London hotel rooms are generally small so if you can upgrade to an "Executive" room here you'll have a little more space and very nice views of London.
Beyond this, the St. Martin's Lane Hotel is in the heart of the West End, also quiet though somewhat more expensive than the Cavendish.
Also worth looking at: The Resident Soho which is more expensive than the Cavendish and less expensive than the St. Martin's.
