I saw the show Yesterdays matinee. I was concerned because of his 3 1/2 hour length but I was not bored.. it uses the same device as merrily we roll along, going back in time, each act. Only one character will appear in 03 acts. The problem is there are so many really interesting characters who only appear in either the first act or the second act, and is the one remaining character. All that interesting to be the remaining one on stage.? I would say it is worth seeing.
On another note, I did see the production of merrily we roll along in London, and I have to say I did not find it fully satisfying. I understand that it is supposed to be more poignant. Having the characters go back in time, but I thought to myself I would like to see it sometime the other way around. Hopefully the new production which I intend to see will be more satisfying the way it was written. |
