I heard a rumor that the new Alicia Keys musical, "Hell's Kitchen" will be moving uptown in the spring and landing at the Shubert.

The rumor I heard is that Boop wants the Shubert. I guess that will also depend on how it does in Chicago.

Not to be pedantic but ... I believe that the only Broadway venue to style itself a 'Theater' rather than a 'Theatre' is the Vivian Beaumont. Off Broadway there is the Public THEATER, but also New York THEATRE WOrkshop, The Vineyard THEATRE, and the Manhattan THEATRE Club.

Also The Hayes Theater, after Second Stage went -er several years ago (and later dropped the word from their company name altogether).

The Same Second Stage that inexplicably chnaged the name from the Helen Hayes, to the Hayes - which should just as soon be honoring Gabby Hayes.

In 1973, when Joe Papp and the New York Shakespeare Festival took over the Beaumont, he made the name change from Vivian Beaumont TheatRE to TheatER, doing the same for Mitzi E. Newhouse. We joked that he was also going to change ShakespeaRE to ShakespeaER.
