I’m surprised no one mentioned The Phantom or the Opera. Maybe it’s the fact it was one of my first-ever Broadway shows, over 30 years ago, but the image of Meg finding the mask and presenting it to the audience as the stage becomes completely dark (and only the mask is glowing for a few more seconds) has always haunted me.
