My guess is that Parade will win, but it's a very close race among Parade, Kimberly Akimbo and Sweeney Todd. Any of those three could win.
I had to look up who Jake Pedersen played in Parade: it was Frankie Epps. I guess he probably is the person with the fourth-most solo lines, but I don't think he has any solo songs or any real vocal showcase, and it seems like a stretch to call him a principal soloist. I think there are only 3 principal soloists in this production of Parade. It was nice of the producers to fill that fourth slot so that Pedersen can now say he is a Grammy nominee and possible winner, though.
I think Kimberly Akimbo could have named Justin Cooley, Bonnie Milligan as principal soloists, and maybe Alli Mauzey if they wanted to fill the four possible slots. |
