As another huge admirer of Brown's work, one of the things I admire is that each of his scores has a unique sound. For The Connector, Brown has written a jagged, jazzy score that fits the subject matter. I also love his big ballads, but what's suitable for The Bridges of Madison County is not suitable for the world being created here.

I think The Connector is one of Brown's best scores. The three songs that are musicalizations of magazine articles are hugely exciting, especially the Jerusalem number you mention ("The Western Wall"), and they work very well as commentary on the larger story that the show is telling.

I enjoyed the show enormously, though I'm not sure all the plot elements completely cohere. The cast is great, particularly Ben Levi Ross as Ethan, the young journalist at the center of the story.
