just don't hire Gee if there will be PRE-scheduled absences in a 14-performance run

I'm sorry I don't care how talented they are. That's quite unfair to the ticket buyers seeing it the one time they get to go without the billed cast, let alone the cast that rehearsed the show in full together. Encores has such limited rehearsal as it is... to see an alternate or understudy when it's NOT due to sickness or emergency? Literally, f*ck off Encores. I'm tired of this kind of stuff from producers. (I'm looking at you too Merrily)

I have looked into this show at least 10 times, and I've never noticed the details that Gee would only be doing the Jester until x date and so-and-so would be the jest the other dates. Not once. Because I've seen the cast announcements and I'm assuming that is the damn cast. My planning of when to see it was not at all keeping in mind when Gee would be there, but presumably i'd want to see the main-cast member who is one of the leads, and who just won a Tony... ...
I guess it's great to give 2 performers an opportunity to do this production, and maybe nice that some audiences can go back and see someone else if they want... but that doesn't trump to be how silly (and misleading) it is to the majority of audiences to cast a 2 week special run of a revival of a famous show and then not be using that cast for all of the performances.
Sigh.
