I'm glad that more people are speaking out against the direction of this current SWEENEY. It has it's pleasures -- what production of SWEENEY TODD wouldn't? -- but Kail's focus is too broad, too tonally inconsistent, and not nearly creative enough for a premiere production. It's totally fine. It's competent. But boring and uninspired.
