It's still an added expense. The last "Gypsy" had a stuffed Chowsie and a puppet lamb. You don't need an animal wrangler if there aren't any live animals. It's a shame though. Who doesn't love a live dog on stage?
But maybe the original production was cutting corners by not adding an animal.
I looked up the original The Wiz on ibdb.com and there's a Toto (Nancy) listed in the credits. Maybe that's not what you meant. |
