I think the high school framing is a regrettable cut, and I think "Rich and Happy" is a much better song than "That Frank". I don't know why they haven't been incorporated back.
I'm under the impression that the writers (Sondheim included) didn't want them back. Though I seem to recall that Furth was more adamant that the original book not be used again. AlanScott probably knows for sure. |
