NEW OFF-BROADWAY REVIEW - "OH, MARY!"

Howard Miller takes a look at Oh, Mary! at the Lucille Lortel Theatre:

History generally has not been terribly kind in its portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of the 16th President of the United States. More like the bane of his existence. Angry, bitter, depressed, meddlesome, mentally unbalanced, and generally unpleasant to be around. Which is, of course, why writer/actor/cabaret entertainer Cole Escola (who identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them/their pronouns) has made her the subject of their queer-infused raucous, farcical, campy, and occasionally gross-out absurdist comedy Oh, Mary!, opening tonight at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
