| This production had both an Overture and an Entr-acte, so must have been the changes that have carried through since 1976. I do find a disparity between Herman's overall tone and Stewart's book so Champion was pretty spot on in trying to prepare the audience for what ultimately would be a musical tragedy (something rarely seen in 1974). But damn, it's a great overture! |
