there aren't too many horror comedy musicals out there, and I have no doubt Michael R. Jackson can write one.

I tend to think he was already heading there in the wonderfully bizarre fantasy mock-up of a Tyler Perry musical in A Strange Loop, where he unwittingly gets the audience to sing along with "AIDS is God's Punishment."

Teeth has been workshopped before, and some of the songs are on Youtube. Funny, crazy stuff. And 1979 audiences thought that making people into pies was an unlikely musical subject lol. :-)

I got to work with Jackson briefly some years ago, doing a reading of a piece called Only Children that he wrote with composer (and my friend) Rachel Peters - again an edgy edgy subject, the sexualization of children. Jackson doesn't shy away from dark subjects for sure. But I'm so thrilled he's finally starting to make a real name for himself. I hope Teeth, um, catches on.
