Rhymes with Hakuna Matata. But lots of worries in this motherland (Eden, naturally). The closer you are to adolescence—or to the adolescent girl in you—the more you’ll probably appreciate the composite of CARRIE, LITTLE SHOP, and ROCKY HORROR that TEETH essentially is. It’s a juvenalian satire that smartly exploits men’s anxieties about women, their bodies particularly. Think Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed” in reverse. Since men routinely make women pay for what they make them feel, turnabout is fair play. TEETH is a shock rock retributive fantasy that jumps over the top quickly and then sprints higher. It’s gleefully, relentlessly appalling. This could grow tiresome fast, but the clever, snappy score keeps the show interesting. And mostly perversely funny. This was an early preview, but TEETH is largely ready to go. I expect it won’t be long before the Great White Way gets a little crimson.
