Perhaps the oddest thing on that LA Vocal Arts Ensemble recording is that version of "A Weekend In The Country" that starts halfway through. I guess they didn't calculate the album timing accurately enough and had to leave the rest of the song off?
IIRC they also use the sheet music version of "Not A Day Goes By" with that odd unexpected chord substitution at the end. Did Sondheim really write it that way, or was that some editor who couldn't resist a snazzier ending? |
