Yes, I think By The Sea is unquestionably Lovett's song and not a duet, despite the Sweeney part in it... but I don't think My Friends is on the edge even of "duet" status. Especially in terms of counting up who has more songs, that's his song and she comes in on it.

Lovett drives more of the show, for sure, Sweeney is in many ways a passive character, as criticized by the ensemble songs, waiting and biding his time. His drive is calm and scary, hers is industrious and nearly anxious. But also Sweeney's songs are BIG, My Friends and Pretty Women into Epiphany alone makes Lovetts songs in Act 1 look like vaudeville numbers and interstitials by comparison. In a musical sense, the music in his songs and the singing required feels to me like some of his songs counts for 2 of hers. She of course has bigger songs too, Poor Thing sort of, Not While I'm Around, but the way her character is composed is obviously very and intentionally different than how Sweeney is.

None of this has any meaning. And of course the "size" of the song includes how they function in the plot too, how their stuff impacts an audience, dialogue in addition to songs, etc.
