It may or may not be outdated, but I would say to my memory, almost every show I've seen that has a male and female that are even each big enough roles to be considered lead, the lady gets the final bow. Even when on paper, math-wise, it might have been more apt to have the male actor bow last. I find this to be true quite often of bows in supporting roles too when a pair of actors, considered in the same category of sized-role, come out to bow, the male bows and then gives the floor, as it were, to the female actor.

It surely doesn't happen always, and I'm sure I've seen many bows where it isn't adhered to, but I think it is still the norm the majority of the time.
