Plagiarism is the wrong word. Plagiarism means a deliberate word-for-word copy of something in literature, or in music a deliberate note-for-note copy.

Add amateur and professional composers together and literally millions of people have composed many millions of melody lines over the course of the 20th century alone. (We'll leave out all the other centuries here.). Of course many of these melody lines--which may consist of no more than half a dozen or a dozen notes--are going to be very similar. That fact does not suggest, or imply, let alone prove, an instance of plagiarism, and as a musician Rune Alver should know better. I think he's just trying to get his name In the papers, which he seems to have successfully accomplished.
