I'm also trying to decide if the way they were both cracking up during the sketch was charming or just a bit amateur. And am I missing some in-joke about "Happy Birthday?"

There was a long period of time that I stopped watching SNL, but in recent years I've started watching again. Mostly I look forward to the cold open, the musical guest, and Weekend Update. I find it's rare that anything else these days is very good at all - an occasional sketch will stand out, but most of them are awful IMO. (Though, the "Please Don't Destroy" film segments can often be funny, and often the filmed song video parodies.)

But even the cold open/political satires can be disappointing. This week's was pretty good, but of course it was also a very very easy target.
