I saw it this past Tuesday, 3/12. I read reports of the first few previews being extremely loud, but I didn't really think that was the case. If anything, I thought it could have been louder! So maybe they already addressed the volume issues?
As far as buzz goes, I wasn't crazy about the show. I thought it looked cheap. They rely too much on digital projections, which I hate. The rest of the set pieces & costumes were kind of ugly. (Pretty sure the "pinball machine" was just a folding table.) So it was not a nice show to look at. Sounded fine, but looked boring.
Performances were okay. No one blew me away. Honestly, I wasn't aware of the Chicago run & I was kind of shocked when I read the positive reviews, including an award for the lead actor. My friend & I were very underwhelmed with what we saw on Tuesday. |
