| I enjoyed water for elephants more than merrily we roll along. It is very minor Sondheim. The two main male characters are completely underwritten and they really have no personality and we really don't seem to care about them. Lindsay Mendez is excellent because she has a character that she can play and she nails every joke and emotion that the script presents to her. There are two great songs in the show, but they are presented in them very meh way. Years ago, I sang not day goes by in a cabaret show and the song is very wrenching but not in this production. Water for elephants is no my fair lady but unless you don't like circuses, I believe you will have a lot of fun. | |
