I wasn't too interested in seeing a stage adaption of STRANGER THINGS as I think the TV show is just so-so. But when I saw the play was directed by three time Tony Award winning director Stephen Daldry it piqued my interest. His first big hit was back in the 90s with his London and Broadway revival of AN INSPECTOR CALLS. Daldry has also won an Olivier for directing, and has been nominated for three Oscars. He directed the movie of BILLY ELLIOT and the subsequent musical adaptation in London and New York. He also directed Nicole Kidman to an Oscar in THE HOURS, as well as Kate Winslet in THE READER. There was a time when Daldry was supposed to direct the movie version of WICKED. He won an Emmy for directing the TV show THE CROWN. Daldry usually does very interesting stage productions.
