I have to agree, I saw Lea Michelle on Broadway twice, and this Fanny is just as good, maybe better. The crowds went so wild for Lea, there was applause at the beginning of each song and screaming ovations when they ended. Not that it's Lea's fault at all. Katerina surprised me by making the role her own, and what a set of pipes. I was a little worried about the criticism of hiring a non-Jewish actress to play this role, and while I still question why they didn't, Katerina is one of those actresses who can pass for Jewish. In other words, she can carry that part of the character off, unlike say, Jane Lynch, who couldn't have been less Jewish as Fanny's mother.

In fact, the tour is almost preferable in some ways. It seems like a real classic showbiz musical, especially seeing it in a big road house.
And the set helps that. They got rid of those useless and ugly staircases and there are some old school painted curtains that come down during some of the scene changes. Supporting cast is pretty good, but the Arnstein, who apparently was the understudy on Broadway, is no Ramin Karimloo - or Omar Sharif.

If you're on the fence, I'd go.
