I had never seen Suzan-Lori Parks' play and wanted to catch this production before it closed. Provocative, gut-wrenching experience. Powerful play about poverty, racism, and family. Very funny at times, violent and shocking at other times, ultimately very sad but honest. Outstanding performances by DeMorris Burrows and Mikha'el Amin. I'm glad I saw it. Highly recommended.
It's being staged by Invictus Theatre in the Windy City Playhouse (located in Irving Park). Runs through Mar. 31st |
