| Aida should have been nominated instead of Swing! IMO. I was a big fan of James Joyce's The Dead but it closed prematurely when Christopher Walken went on vacation and the grosses plummeted. I thought Contact was a brilliant piece of theatre, but I wouldn't have voted for it as Best Musical. I enjoyed Aida a lot, saw it pre-Broadway in Chicago and later on Broadway, and caught a regional production in the Chicago area some time afterward. |
