I must disagree with one point, Likeitlots.

In my opinion DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES absolutely belongs on Broadway and is worthy of Broadway prices.

It has a lush, beautiful score by a fine composer and, notably, some of our finest singing actors at the top of their game. Kelli O’Hara, Brian D’Arcy James, and Byron Jennings are all giving wonderfully nuanced and complex performances. To hear Kelli sing that score is a great gift to theater goers.

There are probably myriad reasons why the show was not a success - it’s very bleak, offers no space for hope or relief from its dark vision, is an adult musical that is focused on character, and is based on a dated film. There probably lots of factors that detract from its mass appeal - but that doesn’t mean that as a work of art it is less worthy of the high ticket prices Broadway charges,

Just my two cents.
