Was to have starred Hoffman directed by Bartlett Sher … but produced by Scott Rudin, so it’s safe to say why that never came to pass.
I’ll always wonder what Sher and Hoffman would’ve done with this play, at least at that time. Having said that, Hoffman will be 87 years old a few months from now, and post-strike currently has 3 movies in production, so it’s also safe to say that he probably no longer has the time or inclination to do a Broadway run at this stage of the game.
Hard to reconcile that we might have already seen his final stage appearance back in 1989 but such is life. |
