This is so sad. He was a brilliant playwright. For months in 1983, I spent every Saturday night at the Westside Arts ushering and watching the two Saturday night performances of Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You and The Actor's Nightmare, and I never got tired of watching them.

He wrote a bunch of wonderful plays. My favorite is The Marriage of Bette and Boo, which I think is one of the great American plays.

May he rest in peace.
