| You know many times when they do a revival they change it a bit and add and get rid of stuff. I heard that THE WIZ is not having a dog..... scary. The first tv version in b&W is very much like and closest to the Original show and has much of the cast in it. They had to shorten it for tv. It was filmed by CBS and that theatre was not in color yet (The Ed Sullivan Theatre) They filmed it three times and took the best of each. There was an audience and my friends and I were able to get tickets to it for the three. I have the script to it. The second and third tv versions were changed a lot. You can see it on You Tube and the third was released on dvd. I got a vhs of it many years before it was available on the computer. I gave Mary Rodgers a copy as she did not have one. |
