"Meeskite" seems to exist largely so that the term is familiar when it was used at the end of "If you could see her" in the bowdlerised version used for the original production, and with that lyric back to the savage original, theres no need to educate the audience on the term. Personally I feel it pushes Schultz further into cutesy-ness and over-sentimentalizes the show, something that recent productions have sought to avoid. Though I'm aware some all-that-chatters like Schwartz.
