If you read her two autobiographies, she and her family were very often living and moving among Los Angeles, London, New York and Gstaad, Switzerland. While that's what they wanted, it seemed to make their lives very complicated; I believe residency requirements per year and taxes also came into play.

I would think that any musical or play after the late '50s with a British leading woman's role would have had someone thinking of Julie Andrews. She probably was considered for Nancy in the film version of "Oliver!" too after she became a movie star.
